SAMUEL R. TYLER. PRESIDENT

Sam Tyler was named President of the Research Bureau in January 1983 and has been a member of the Bureau staff since 1972. Under his leadership, the Bureau has played an influential role in shaping the direction of public policy over a wide range of municipal and educational issues. Sam is past President of the Governmental Research Association, a national organization of individuals professionally engaged in governmental research. Under his direction, the Bureau has received national recognition over the years for the effectiveness and quality of its governmental research. He holds a Bachelor's degree from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania and a Master's in Political Science from Northeastern University.

DIANE SMITH. OPERATIONS & PROGRAM MANAGER

Diane Smith has been the Research Bureau's Operations & Program Manager since 1986. She is responsible for member services, managing the activities of the Board of Directors, coordinating all programs and events, along with assisting the President with the financial and administrative management of the Research Bureau. Diane oversees the Shattuck Awards that has become a premiere event in the City of Boston along with the Bureau's Annual Meeting. She has over 30 years of experience in events and program management as well as a career in public relations.

ELAINE DANDURAND BEATTIE. VICE PRESIDENT

Elaine Beattie joined the Research Bureau in 1985 and has held several staff positions during that time. She is responsible for directing, coordinating and producing all research projects as well planning the policy position of the organization. Elaine's expertise focuses on Boston's finances including the Boston Public Schools, the City's linkage program, personnel system and demographics, among others. Elaine also coordinates the Research Bureau's communications program and website. Elaine holds a Bachelors of Science degree from Northeastern University and a Master in Business Administration from Suffolk University.


MEGHAN HAGGERTY. RESEARCH ASSOCIATE

Meghan Haggerty joined the Research Bureau in September 2010 as a Research Associate.  She is responsible for researching and writing reports on a variety of municipal topics.  In addition, she is responsible for monitoring City Council and School Committee  activity.   Meghan formerly worked for the City of Boston as a Neighborhood Coordinator for the South End and Bay Village sections of Boston.  Meghan holds a Masters Degree in Public Policy and Urban Planning from the Harvard Kennedy School and an AB in Social Studies from Harvard College.
