Remembering Mayor Thomas M. Menino
The Research Bureau is saddened by the passing of Mayor Tom Menino today. We worked with him closely for 30 years as a partner on major issues that will have a long-term impact on Boston. He was a strong fiscal steward of the City and his leadership established the foundation for Boston’s continued success. The video above provides a moving tribute to Tom Menino as Mayor.
The Research Bureau worked with Mayor Tom Menino for 30 years, as City Councilor for ten years and as Mayor for the past 20 years. We worked together as partners on major issues that will have a long-term impact on Boston such as the appointed School Committee and creation of the Boston Medical Center and on efforts to improve the Boston Public Schools and ongoing city financial and management issues. He was a strong fiscal leader for Boston which was especially evident during the times of economic downturn. He was a man of personal integrity whose focus was on transforming the City to better serve the needs of those who live and work in Boston and he succeeded. His leadership established the foundation for Boston’s continued success.
Last year the Research Bureau honored Mayor Menino as a Shattuck City Champion for which Comcast prepared the video above, which now is a moving remembrance of Tom Menino. Our thoughts and prayers are with Angela and the Menino family.
