The School Committee Nominating Panel began the process of submitting names of candidates to Mayor Walsh for his appointment to the School Committee. The Mayor must make his appointments by January 1, 2018.

It’s not a secret that nearly half of Boston’s land area is tax-exempt. What does not get as much attention is that government owns over three-quarters of all exempt land in Boston at 78.7% of the total – with the Commonwealth holding the largest portion at 48%.

Boston’s legacy costs ranked second lowest as a % of spending among 32 U.S. cities. There are many factors that come into play and having a low % is not necessarily good.
